Odometer in '96 ranger
My odometer intermittantly quits. The speedometer keeps working okay.
One would think there might be a stripped plastic gear.
Does anyone have any ideas? How would you get to it?

Yes, I bought it used, but 8 years ago. I would think something has gone bad recently. Today, it is working fine.
It seems it gives more trouble at road speeds. It clicks in and works when stopped and works around town.
The intermittant operation is working at present. I have reached around behind the instrument panel. I cannot tell anything by feel. I was hoping against hope there might be something that was coming loose I could just tighten.
Keep those ideas coming !
