I am thinking it should be legislated that until all demand is meet for diesel, and heating fuel here in the US they can't export it at all.

Smile colorado bio

I don't have that but I recall that it was in the Denver area and I ran into them using Google. From there are many sites to research bio availability. I filled my tank for the first time with Bio early this week and will return today at Houston Biodiesel. Really a good feeling not to be supporting Big Oil! I will also produce my fuel out in the yard in the near future.

Ive been making b100 for about 6 months at 78 cents a gallon any body else doing this. I would be more than happy to give my method of it. Makes about 40gal in 3-4 days. build your own processor for about 700$ or so

HED, i'd love to receive more on how you are making your biodiesel. Myself and a co-worker have been talking about doing this for about 6 months (is it really June already?)...while I continue to buy b-20 when passing thru Brigham City on my way to/from SLC...which costs 3-6 cents more than dino.

Looking at a kerosene burning Excursion for the Mrs...gonna need to be able to produce left over from the chicken fried steaks soon.

78 cents a gal doesn't include your time and effort, space needed, etc, etc. You might have to go out some snowy night to collect the stuff, spend money on getting a place to process it (space costs money), clean up, pump it somewhere to store it or whatever, and the list goes on.

You aren't including the satifaction value of making my own fuel, or the reduction of even the little bit I run in my truck is that much that isn't going into the pockets of big oil, or to the saudi's, or the fact that my injectors will live longer because of the better lubrication factors of running Bio, and lastly the fact that I have atleast 55 gallons stored on hand, so when something major happens, and all fuel supplies are cut off I can still drive my truck if I want or need too.

Actually not. Those are intangibles that I never use in an equation. when I tally it up at the end of the month, it has to show positive on the ledger before I will be even intersted.

Not sure how much better the lubricating will make it since I haven't seen proof positive that it does make it last significantly longer. It may or may not but just not seen yet.

If all fuel supplies are cut off, we will have bigger problems.

aklim, I don't want to sound like I am picking on you so don't take it that way, but the if it ain't cheaper I am not going to do it mentality is why big oil has such a strangle hold on this country, and is also exactly why the saudi's and other countries that hate us have some much power, and money. Those intangibles would mean I would do this even if it was a little more expensive, but for your ledger lets figure that the .78cents/gallon price, plus add $40 for my labor to make a batch, and then another $10 per batch for electricity, and water, and another $10 per batch for "space" costs (even though mine is in a shed that was basically just a junk storage unit. and lets use the $700 original setup cost the other poster put in, and lets say that unit will produce 3500 gallons in it's life. and one batch is 30 gallons. That all works out to $2.98/gallon well I just paid $2.89/gallon for commercial diesel at the pump so by adding money to the big oil, and saudis I saved a whole .09cents/gallon.

Nope. I don't think you are picking on me.

As long as it comes out positive and there are numbers that I can hang a hat on and be sure it is not costing me more than the product can be had commercially, it is something I can use to decide what to do. Actually, you save $0.09 or 9 cents not 0.09 cents. However commercial diesel will go up to past $2.89 a gal so, it will be more profitable in the future.
