idle air controler
#2
Taurus cars have an electrical idle air bypass port that can gradually become stuck open. I have an old one in the glove box of my 89 that i was going to mount on a plaque to remind me not to go to Pep Boys for maintenance... They ripped me off bad, that part is only two inches by one, by one, and isn't that hard to get to. It's on the upper intake/throttle body assembly.
