I'm a new member and this is really a great site. I can honestly say I have not had hardly any problems with this truck. I have a 97 f-350 crew cab, build date 12/96, dually(256,000 miles) standard trans, with the following mods 4" exhaust including 3"Down pipe, oversize tubo housing, K&N air system, a Edge programmer, and a pyrometer and boost gauges. This set up has been running fine since we installed it 6 months ago. About two weeks ago it stalled momentarily. When I pulled over it started right back up. Two days ago it stalled again at 40 mph and restarted before the truck stopped. I had the truck programmed in the emmission mode. I drove about another 10 miles with out any problems. I then reprogrammed the truck into towing mode. Since then It will not start. I replaced the cps because when you crank it the tach would not register.(Also the tach does not register after installing the new cps) It also has a new gpr on it. The fuel bowl is getting fuel but no smoke is coming out of the exhaust. The edge programmer has a diagnostics and it reads PO470 EBP sensor and PO603 internal control module error(KAM)which I figured was from the programmer. The PO470 reading has been there since we installed all the mods. I've unpugged the EBP sensor( then got the PO472 reading), Refilled the HPOP, drained the fuel bowl (new fuel filter less than 1000 miles). I"ve set it back to factory program and the emmission program and still nothing. I'm am at a lost as where to proceed next. Help!

I cleared it and it came back but not immediatly, maybe 4 0r 5 tries then it showed up

Well, that means that it's having trouble with keeping the memory alive. It requires electricity to do that. It's either losing power internally or somewhere upstream of that.
This is where the fun begins. It can be as simple as corroded battery terminals to as hair pulling as an intermittant break in the solderboard on the PCM.
i had that problem, and found a broke wire in the valve covers. I asked about that, they said it had nothing to do with it at the dealership, but after I fixed it, its run fine for over 35000 miles now. Of coarse, my truck is a littel different. Sometimes it fixes itself if I cuss loud enough and use that "sell" word......
I do not want to be the bearer of bad news but I had similar symptoms wth my stroker. The eventual result, after several months of on again off again problems and attempted fixes, was a totally dead truck that needed a PCM transplant.
An autopsy of the PCM revealed an intermittent break on a circuit board. In otherwords what Kwik said.
I've checked the wiring, cannot find anything wrong. The next question can the PCM be replaced at home or do you have to have a stealership do it? It looks relatively simple in the Chiltons. Does it have to be reprogrammed? What kind of Cost is this going to set me back? I have access to a truck salvage yard, but i question putting a used one in, although most of the trucks where running when wrecked.
Thanks
