Adding A/C to a '99
I'm looking at a clean, very low mileage '99 Flareside, with one problem- no A/C. I rarely use A/C myself, but I'm trying to determine a fair price for the truck, so I'm wondering what it would cost to add A/C to a truck that never had it. I'm sure if you went to Ford, it would be thousands, but how about scrounging junkyard parts? And what year parts would fit? It's a 4 cylinder. I don't want to over-pay for the truck, and here in FL, you can't give a vehicle away w/o A/C.

IMO, you have to figure in the time involved even more so than the cost of the A/C components (which, as you say, aren't exactly cheap). For example, you might need to modify or even change out the plenum box in order to accomodate the evaporator core. Big job. And the electronics are another thing, there's clutch coil relays, cycling switches, WOT cut-off switches, etc., not to mention that the '99 with A/C uses an electronic blend door actuator. Another big job getting the circuitry to work right.
If you are thinking that you may need A/C at some point, then pass on the truck. If you want the truck no matter what, then offer him a song for it.
