Never heard any complaints. It's more than "spliced in" There are components that mount in the engine compartment that hook to the throttle to control the engine speed. You usually have to splice in the vehicle speed sensor wire so the unit gets speed info. A power source and a wire to the brake switch, and that is probably it.
If you have an older vehicle that does not have fuel injection or computer control, you will probably have to buy the magnet kit that goes on the driveshaft so the unit can get it's speed signal there.
