When I turn on my headlights. In the dash the left turnsignal stays on and doesn't blink when I try to use it. The right one works. The abs light comes on. Sometimes it has gone off when I use the left turn signal. And the cruise control doesn't work. No high beams either or emergency flashers. everything works when the headlights are off. I've tried replacing the headlight switch and turnsignal/emergency switch as well. Now I'm at a lose and am not looking forward to taking it to the dealer. My truck is a 97 f-250 h/d with a 460 and manuel
To get rid of the left turnsignal staying on with the headlights on, take the left front turnsignal bulb out and clean the socket and the bulb contacts. See if that goes away.
Your highbeams not working. You have a later model truck that probably has a fuse for these either under the dash or out under the hood in another fuse box.
Cruise control and abs. There are two directions we can go here. Does your horn buttons work in the steering wheel? If not, I would suspect the clockspring is bad in the behind the steering wheel. If the horn works, then it's possible your speed sensor may be going bad. Check to see if you have a sensor in the rearend housing. If this went bad, it would affect the cruise and the abs system.
the thing that relates all these problems is that when I don't have the headlights on everything functions normally.
Check your grounding between the engine block and the firewall. You also may have a small ground coming off the battery negative cable and going to the fender or firewall area. The only thing it seems that could relate all these totally different circuits is a bad ground to the cab and or radiator support. The headlights may be using some of the other circuits for a ground return path, which makes them not work.
If you find some of these small ground wires melted, then that's a sign you may have had a large negative ground cable problem in the past, so the starter tried to use these smaller ground wires and burnt them up. Or sometimes the engine is changed out, and these little wires are forgotten and not hooked up.
