LTD front end swap

I have heard and seen of a few guys that used an LTD or Merc front end to drop the front of their pickups. There is a 79 in the picture gallery that used this method. Does anyone here have some information on this?? Is it a relatively easy in-and-out swap?? I want to do this to my 67 instead of using the drop I beams because I have more available LTD front ends than drop beams.

I want to drop my pickup because of better handling and I like the way they look too.

Any help is appreciated.

PS. To all of you who are against dropping, please bear with me, I have good reason for lowering.

Nitro, Did you ever get any info on this swap? I was thinking the same way. I do remember conversions using the chrysler torsion bar front ends. Thanks, Doug

Just finished doing that, wanted to use all Ford parts so went with the 80 Merc front suspension. Alot of measuring, all went will as the new front clip was close enough to fit well. I had lots of Merc cars so did not spend any money on this setup and will end up with an all Ford 56 pick up. The 67 sould be even a closer fit as my 56 was about 3/8'' of a inch narrower per side.

Sorry no pics yet.Not a hard swap if measurements are taken before anything is cut off. Figure the height needed and measure/recond these numbers for a reference to plan the swap. We put the front portion of the old frame back on to fasten the front sheet metal from the 56. Later this year I maybe able to post some pics but don`t have the time rite now.
