I did contact a friend that works on buses with the Power Strokes, he is going to try to bring me one out of some sitting buses in the yard to try. In the mean time I'm going to try looking at the fuel system also. I will definately let all of you know what results of this problem. If there is a way to test the good one compared to the bad one (if it's the CPS), I let you know that too.
One thing my buddy told me is they change these all the time in the Power Strokes, I can't believe that someone hasn't come up with a better replacement, this was news to me that it was even a problem.
can anyone find a CPS on ebay and send me the link or give me the item # ???, I've been trying for an hour and cannot come up with anything, maybe I'm not searching right !!
type in 7.3 camshaft position sensor and it will show 0 results but right under it it will show 12 that have those words and take you right to the part. This was the way i found the most links. Good luck and hopefully you get your truck running soon.
When you turn on the ignition do you hear the fuel pump running? It's a muted buzzing noise coming from the frame rail directly under the driver's seat.
No buzz=no fuel.
you know kwillordead, I tried to hear it by myself while in the parking lot it was broke down in and with the darn beeping sound when the key is turned forward, I could not hear if it was running or not.
When I took out the fuel filter though, the bowl was full, I think that is one sign it is working.
but just in case today I'll get someone to turn the key while I lay underneith and listen with my hand on the pump also.
thanks
Fix that infernal dinging! My truck dings ... never! Aside from the initial 6 or so dings when you turn the key but no dinging if I open the door or if I have the lights on and door open like I do so much.
Check the FAQ in the Superduty section for how to get rid of the dinging.
haha, it is very annoying having that beeping, especially when you get out of the truck to pump fuel and as long as the key is in the ignition even when the truck is off, it drives me crazy.
as soon as I get it running, I'll tend to the beeping
thanks

well folks, I finally have some results. I changed the Cam Position Sensor and it still would not start. I borrowed an awesome Snap On scanner (code reader) from someone I know, I just plugged it in and entered some VIN characters, now the bad news......the code that is coming up is:
P0605 - Inter. Cntr Module Rom Error -
This doesn't look good. Does anyone know If there is a way to test the Module, or maybe take it out and take it the Dealer, can they ?????
if not, what am I looking at pricewise, I'm scared to ask at the dealer !!!!!!!!!!
any ideas ????
