For those of you with stock engines who want to use power steering, or for the lazy ones like me who don't want to sort through the many brackets used on small-block Fords, here'e an alternative to an engine-driven power steering pump.
On my '55 F100 I used an electric power steering pump out of a second-generation Toyota MR2 - mine is out of a '91. It is a pretty straight-forward installation - #10 wire through a relay and a large capacity circuit breaker, relay wired to acc. post on ignition switch (or to a separate switch as an added theft protection). I used the stock Toyota 4x4 pickup high-pressure hose and resevior - shorterned the hose because of the proximity of the pump to the steering box. The pump is mounted to the frame on the driver's side and sits in the "bulge' in the inner fender.
Pump is about the size of a starter motor, but not as heavy. Runs real quiet and could probably be shut off at speeds over 20 mph.
Other mods to truck: 351W, C6 auto trans, 9" rear mounted on top of stock rear springs, dropped front axle, reversed-eye front springs. C-notch rear, power brakes - disc front, drum rear, poly gas tank.

Please post some pictures of your truck and of the power steering setup. We had kicked this idea around till it died and couldn't come up with a solution.
Sounds like you won a prize.
