What's up guys, I haven't posted in while, but I'm having some brake problems and I thought I'd share them with you. Misery loves company, right?
Anyway, last September my '04 Lariat Scab 4x4 had a vibrating/pulsating brake pedal under light braking, like when coming off a freeway onto an off ramp. I took it to the dealer, they verified the problem and proceeded with the TSB to replace the front rotors. The truck had a little over 13,000 miles on it at that time. When I picked it up, it drove like it was brand new. Everything was nice and tight, life was good!
Well, that didn't last. The problem has reared its ugly head again, just a short 7000 miles later. I took it back to the dealer, again they verified the problem and said they needed to proceed with the next block on the TSB flow chart which is to, not only replace the front rotors again, but also the calipers and the steering rack as well!
Have any of you been down this same road?
Oh yeah, has anyone had problems with their heater fan motors squeaking, chirping, making other weird noises? The dealer is replacing that on my truck too.
I'm taking mine to the shop on Tuesday morning. I have an 04 SCREW with 15,000 miles on it. I don't notice the vibrating but my brakes have been squealing bad lately. I'm hoping they replace the rotors etc. per the TSB. Hopefully that fixes the problem for good and I'm not in your situation. I'll have to let you know what they say.
Good luck on your trip to the dealer. Its been my experience so far with my truck that nothing has stayed fixed for good, at least from the first time. I'm hoping you will have better luck!
I have been thru it all with the brakes.. Everytime they replaced rotors, lining, etc. it would last about 4-7,000 then back to the same, vibrating/pulsation, etc.. Until the last time they replaced rotors, my dealer installed ceramic linings. That has been the end of my problems and no brakedust as a bonus...
