Well I wasn't even really looking, but I heard it on Swap & Shop and had to at least call. Looking at a '72 David Brown w/3pth and loader. It's only about 8 miles away which is really cool. Now I just need to get rid of my 1085 Massey. It's too big (has a cab) and doesn't have 3pth. The little case will fit in my barn and will be just about perfect for my acreage. They are the original owners which helps. My Dad has had one for 15 years or so which allowed me to get to know the pros and cons of the little beast.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Oh yeah, Swap and Shop is a free classified program on the radio. 880 CKLQ Brandon. Country all the way!
The 285 is a great haying tractor, handles nice with a good turning radius.
I have a John Deere 755 diesel, three point hitch, front wheel assist for mowing grass in the yard and rototilling my shelter belt trees.
How much are you asking for your massey? And just how big is too big? I am keeping my eyes open for an older trasctor also, but I prefer them to be green haha.
I'm asking $5000 for it, but not sticky on the price. Too big is 82 horse and size wise, it doesn't fit in the barn. This little Case will fit just nice and it's in the 55 horse range. Much more appropriate.
Those little Case's are nice tractors, my uncle had one for doing yard work. My dad's cousin from England used one for doing his field work, but he just pulled a 10' drill and a 12' cultivator and he only farmed 90 acres. He couldn't believe it when he saw the type of machinery that was used around here. He'd never saw anything so big.
I used to live on a farm and we had a little 1085, it wasn't that bad of a tractor, it pulled my little 12' cultivator very well and the old massey #36 discer as well. 4cyl diesel for $5000 is a good deal!!!
Here's hoping that somebody around here thinks so! I haven't had a chance to advertise it yet, but I was giving the Father-in-law and chance for it and my Dad as well. THey had both expressed interest in it before. Unfortunately, I work Monday, Tuesday, so It's have to wait until Wednesday.
Let me know whats going on with it. I might be interested. I would love to get a tractor for doing some yard work and stuff like that, and 5 grand isnt that bad of a price, if only it was green... haha
