The truck is an F150 xlt 4.6 2wd made in mid 2004. It has run great till a week ago when a multiple missfire occured the mileage is genuine at 52000.
The guys stripped the heads off to find the back 4 cylinders have run lean (colour is yuk), inspecting the big plastic inlet manifold that fits snug into the valley of the V there is a big split in the plastic caused by what we think is a large backfire at some time. The plastic inlet is apparently on serious back order. Do you know anything of this problem as the car is in UK finding knowledge is hard. Your thoughts will be appreciated
Where I work we have replaced a few intake manifolds on Ford cars, all have been cracked and leaking coolant. We have not had any for in for other cracks that caused the problem that you have but have also done a few with bad gaskets. PM me your VIN# and I will try to find you one here in the USA. From what you posted it sounds like you need the lower intake, is this correct?
As I saw it a few days a go it was not the Aluminium bit which you can see when you raise the hood but when you remove the complete manifold a large black plastic box comes with it. this normally sits in the V of the valley and is attached to the main alliminium body that I mentioned earlier.
OK I have it now, you need what I think is parts for the PCV system. Do you only need the "box" I think there is also a tube under there also. I will have the Ford parts dept fax me a parts breakdown on Tuesday and get back to you.
