I have a '97 XLT, it has sat for a few months but I am getting ready to move it to replace the engine, however I need to jump start it to move it and I can't seem to get the hood open.
I pull the handle and it does not seem to have the normal resistance but the cable does feel taut what I can feel of it.
The hood also feels solid and I hear no sounds when I do pull the cable.
Is there a way for me to get under the truck manually and release the hood?
put your ear on the hood above the latch and hafe someone pull the handle listen for movement. no movement? disconnect the cable from the handle and try to pull the cable it may have streched my .02
I tried having someone pull the handle and pull/hit the hood and nothing, the old fist on the hood didn't do it either even with a little WD40.
I am in the middle of un bolting the handle so I can pull the cable further out in case it either did stretch or became disconnected.
