i grabbed some fuel injectors at the bone yards. one set was from an 88 351 and another was from an 88 302. they both look differant and have differant part #'s on them.
i was wondering if they were one and the same? especially if i'm gonna be using a set on my 89 302?
what about the cast iron exhaust manifolds from the 88 351; would i be able to use that on my 89 302? cuz my truck has aftermarket long tube headers rather than manifolds.
If the 302 was in a truck, the injectors should be the same size (both yellow tops) as the 351. As long as they are yellow top, you can use them in your 89. The manifolds will definitely match the head ports, but I would think that the long tubes would be better.
the key is the color..yellow's are 19lb and will work fine in this n on-MAF sesnor set-ups. As you get into the 1990's and start experieincing MAF systems, then you can have some fun with 24lb and 30lb injectors without screing up your milage and emisssions.
Even on MAF systems you can't just swap in larger injectors and expect the computer to compensate. It is fueled based on the stock size injector; anything larger and it will not run properly. You can do things to account for the larger injectors, but the stock EFI system cannot adjust for larger injectors on its own.
