HELP!!! Better MPG?

I have a 04 F-250 6.0. 36,000 miles. What Chip, programmer or whatever would be best for this truck. I'm looking for more mpg than performance. Thanks for any help.

I also have an 04 F-250 6.0 with 31,000 miles. It used to get about 15 mpg before I had the last PCM flash done two weeks ago. On a 2000 mile trip to Denver last week I got 18.25 mpg. About 50% of the driving was interstate at 75 mph. The rest was 2 lane & city. This is the best mileage I have got since I owned the truck. Have you had the latest recall flash done? It fixes a lot of other sins also. The big one for me was mileage.

Flashing is reprogramming the computer. Take yuor truck to a good dealer and ask them if you have the latest flash for your truck.

Are there version numbers for the flashes or dates? I would like to specifically ask for such and such a flash especially if it is going to improve my fuel economy.

Thanks

Well I have a new 06 King Ranch 250 with the 6.0 and just put in a SuperChip. The service manager at the dealership suggested (and ordered it for me also) putting it in performance mode. Well took a short 150 mile trip, and I went from 14-15 mile to the gallon to almost 19 miles to the gallon at 70 miles an hour.

Wow 19 mpg is very good. Did anyone get a reflash that takes out the hesitation when your taking off? That's my biggest problem with the 6.0

It reprogrammed the tranny also. Takes a few miles for the tranny to adjust to the driving, but at 19 miles to the gallon I could wait. I did not notice a big hesitation. With adding an extra 100 horsepower, it tends to over shadow any hesitation, even though I did not notice any.

I just installed a superchip tuner ( My dealer also ordered/paid for mine ) on the economy setting this weekend. The power is awesome and I'll let you know about the mileage in a week or so. I was getting 15mpg before.

That is a good question, but when you go to your dealer...they will give the most recent flash for your SD. They will not let you pick which flash version you want (at least no dealers around here ).

TIP:
Before agreeing to the flash, as your dealer what the flash corrects. What changes to the most recent flash...and why it would be in your benefit to re-flash your SD.

I am confused with these dealers suggesting, ordering, and especially paying for a superchip. My dealer and the manual says installing a superchip will void the warranty.

My dealer did tell me the same thing about the warranty. He also told me if I brought the truck back for any warranty work make sure I load the default settings back on. Using the Superchip is easy, just read the screen and follow the directions.
