Starter Wiring Problem...

i have a 1988 f-150 with a 302 and 5 speed and i am having a wierd problem with the truck that i cant figure out. the other day i got in it and started it up fine, drove about 30 miles shut it off did my business and got back in to start it up and the starter turned the engine over but really slow and thats all that happened. so i sat for a minute and tried it again and the starter dragged like before but it did manage to start the engine. so i make it home and shut it off and tried to see if it would start back up and it didnt. i then saw white smoke coming from under the hood and upon opening the hood i saw that it was coming from the starter relay thats mounted next to the battery on the finder. it had melted the wires on the positive side of the relay. its done this since i've had the truck and also with the guy that had it before me. i've changed the starter relay and had the starter checked (which is good) and checked all of the grounds and wiring. i cant figure out what is wrong so does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance.

That's a quick fix as long as you havent toasted any wires. It's just as simple as replacing the starter ceolenoid, that's the little "relay" with the two posts coming off it next to your batttery. It's a cheap fix too! Good luck!
