How is everyone?.... I'm new to the forums and a new owner of a 1989 F-250 custom. Hate to say this on here(for fear of abuse) but i'm realy a chevy guy at heart but just love this truck of mine....The truck is in nice condition but the body is shot ..... And i'm looking for a Hood and a pair of fenders..... I can find glass fenders but i realy want to keep it sheet metal .... ive searched for about two days and caint find any. Like i said i'm new to this ford thing so i realy dont know what years and trucks are compatible with my truck..... If any body can help me out on this problem i'd greatly appreciate it.
thanks for all help
I got my fenders from VIP. Go in and ask them. Don't have to pay shipping like with NPD, but I got my rockers and corners and floor pans from NPD. Good Service too I might add. I order small and specialty stuff from NPD and find most others locally.
don't worry about being a Chevy guy at heart...I myself once was a young naive Chevy lover until I got my first Ford. By the way, I was once a MOPAR lover back in the late 1960's until I got my first Chevy. I consider this crawling before walking and then onto running.
thanks everyone for their help.......lisagoud i thinkk you may be right. I own a small pesticide and lawncare business. In the back of my new lot were i park my now dead chevy ck2500 theirs a 86 F-350 dumpback completely rust free in great condition except for the hood has 1 rust spot and the door has a dent and the engine is going to prob need to be replaced in about 10000 miles. But i'm picking it up tomorrow or this weekend for $600 i caint believe it. i Guess u can say i'm starting to stand maybe take take a few steps lol... One other question my friend works at Fette Ford over by me n can get me a great deal on a new or off lease F-250 or 350 .... anybody have any experence with this truck?...... Alot of people in my area say its ride isnt so great but 5300lbs bed capacity i d/k how i could wrong..... maybe in the near future.......Anyway thanks for everyones help if anybody in my area needed some discounted work done just drop me a ring
Nothing wrong with the newer trucks. Actually, compared to the older trucks (96 and earlier), they ride smoother, by design. My 93 F350's rear is so stiff if I'm driving unloaded and unhitched, I don't need shocks. The front of the truck (2wd IFS) floats over everything and the rear jumps and bangs.
If you want a new truck, by all means. They're nice and comfy and if well-optioned they are almost like town cars. Can even get leather, power everything.
The question I'd ask is value for dollar. A $600 truck with $3500 put into it over 3 years is about $125 a month. Can you lease/finance a new truck for that?
Um, no.
But I am biased... my 93 F350 crewcab just passed the 400k mile mark, and brand new at the end of 92 it was $17,500. I definately got my money's worth.
In fact, it was worth cutting off the wheel well rot and replacing the fenders and radiator support last summer (DIY style), and replacing the engine/tranny this year. And I'll get many more years out of it after the powertrain swap. Nothing is wrong with my transmission BTW, other than it won't mate to the new engine.
My wife bristled me a few times to replace it with a new diesel pickup, for better mileage. And my response to that even with today's gas prices, a new truck would cost significantly more per month with the higher priced diesel, the monthly payment, and the increased insurance, to the tune of about $450 more a month over what I pay now for gasoline, and a few random repairs.
Not that I wouldn't mind a new truck... but I'm a cheap bloke.
