Question Windshield rubber.

I am planning to replace the windshield on my ´66 F-100. I already got the windshield and now I am looking for the rubber. Which is the best place to buy the rubber (best quality)? / Hans

You want a Dennis Carpenter rubber either from him or one of his dealers. Don't forget if you have the CC trim, it goes in first.

Before you go out and actually buy the part it might be a good idea to also check the local Ford dealer. I have found several things that were cheaper from the dealer. When I replaced the rubber on my F100 window it was cheaper from the dealer because I saved the shipping. Just a thought.

Thanks for the input. The only problem is that I live in Sweden and Ford dealers have almost only parts for europeean Fords in stock. They might be able to special order parts for newer US Fords but not for olders ones. Thanks though. / Hans

What is the shipping typically cost from the west coast to Sweden? I may have an idea on where to get one at a fairly good price. I was going to get it for my 66 f100 but if they are harder to get where you are I might be able to help. Send me an e-mail through my user name and we can go from there.

Hey; I bought a w/s rubber on ebay for about half what the repro guys charge. We installed a windshield with it last week, and it seems to be just fine. Might be worth a shot! Biggut

Dennis Carpenter is recommended for one reason only. Over the years it has proven to be the best out there.

Back to emphasize what John stated in his reply post; make sure you order the right rubber, either for standard cab not with chrome trim around the glass or Custom cab glass rubber; shipping that far would be a drag if you order the wrong one. I used a lmc rubber; seems to fit great; but I would definetly check D/C first for price ing.
D/c rubber is $40 & the they state to call for international shipment pricing. Lmc is $29.95 an about the same problem with determing cost for overseas shipping. The cost is for either standard cab or C/C windshields..
Just to add insult to injury...

I have a custom cab so I ordered rubber for the chrome molding. I got an estimate shipping cost from Dennis Carpenter so I hope that will be about right. I was looking at ebay for a one but I did not find one. My truck is scheduled to arrive in Sweden on the 6th of June and shortly after that I will change the windshield. I did buy a ´61 Chev Apace before I bought the Ford but now since I got the F-100 I will sell the Chev. Thanks for all the info - this is a great place to be a part of. / Hans

I had new windshield and back glass installed when I got a paint job last summer. I got the gaskets from Obsolete Ford in OKC. The front was a CC model.
They look geat. The windshield was tinted. Cost about 100 for the new ws bout 35 ea for the new rubber.
