Back from europe
I assume you guys would want to hear more about the cars. Well mostly diesels and stick shifts. A lot of turbo diesels, like the van we rented for example. That thing got the best gas milage ive ever seen, seriously this thing didnt play games when it comes to gas milage. We took it from rome to tuscany and all through tuscany while we were there and filled up once. Tuscany had some crazy hills too so there was a pretty decent amount of driving being done. It was a 2.2 Renault Espace. Looks like a POS but it was amazing on gas.
I also saw a turbo diesel ranger, which i thought was strange. Mainly though it was mopeds and tiny, tiny cars. I saw a few 3wd cars, some with the the one wheel in the back, oh i did see a 50s vette though, which was pretty cool.
did you calculate the mpg? was the amount of money you spent on gas comparable to what we spend for gas here with our big american v8 trucks?
There is a world wide disparity in fuel pricing - and I seriously believe the oil companies are whining most about: "We make all this money over here, but we have to ship it and pay the transit costs. Wouldn't it be great if we could sell the USA on the ideation that all prices should be at parity around the world, even though we can pocket the savings from not having to ship it to China or wherever?"
I doubt this is the first time this idea has been expressed, but if so I claim it.
And I also totally disagree with anyone who thinks twice about selling such a scheme to the American people!
I will also say this however: If we had their motor vehicles at our fuel prices, we would have it all!
