I am working on a '65 F-100 for my son. We shaved the handles and he wants to lower the truck. Is the Springtech front and rear lowering kit a good way to do this? I have been working on this truck for months (almost a complete frame off) and just want to complete it so I can move on. Simplicity is my primarly concern. I do not want to spend more time at the salvage yards. Before we decided to go this route I already rebuilt the front end and have new front and rear shocks. I hope the new king pins and such can be re-used. Thanks.
I have checked out the spring tech kit on EBAY offered by canuck motorsports,I not a pro but I have always been fond of DJM suspension kits. The guys at DJM said the complete kit for my 66 with toxic shocks would be about $850.00 thats front and rear with everything, not bad.Bell tech also makes great stuff,I would just call around to see what they offer you.Good luck
I have no experience with lowering kits. A spring shop in town carries Bell equipment told me they do not make lowering kits for my year of truck. Since I plan to wait and see how the truck looks after I finish the body work and painting I have time to shop around. Thanks.
I am a novice so you can probably understand shaving the handles has been a big step. I have not spend enough time on this site to figure out how to attach photos. Where do I go to read about the photo bucket?
I am thinking about shaving the gas cap plus the antenna. All this is an 11th hour change in course as I have completely media blasted this truck, completed a few patches, epoxy primed, filled, high build primed, block sanded, primed, block sanded, was about ready to paint, then decided to fill roof body seem and shave the handles.
I guess I'll ask a question about the stepside bed. It is a long bed. Holes in the front and rear of the frame align with the bed, however a couple of the braces on the bed do not align with the existing holes on the frame. I guess I just need to drill new holes. I also do not like the way the rear wheels are closer to the front of the wheel openning. While I do not want to cut both frame and bed to convert to a short bed I have considered removing the front end cap of the bed and cutting a couple inches from both sides of the bed so the bed will fit closer to the front and center the wheels. Do others do this?
