I'm new to this. Picking up a 00' f350 PSD crew cab next week. I keep hearing about this dp chip sounds like alot of people like it would like to know where to buy it. Also wondering what else I need to do to run it safetly ( any trans mods, exhaust, intake) Had a friend blow up a PSD tranny in less then 48hours after chipping his truck. Thanks for any help.
Starting out with a complete set of gauges for your truck is the best insurance
around. Get minimally an EGT gauge (preferably installed pre-turbo) , tranny temp gauge and a boost guage. If adding power u need these gauges. Then open up the breathing ability of your PSD with a good exhaust system and intake.
Jody Tipton sells his great chips HERE. Great guy to deal with.
Stick around and read up on all the great and effective mods u can do to improve your PSD's performance AND make it last longer.
Nut
If its an auto put a factory tech valve body or a bts valve body. both run around 250 dollars, they shift alot quicker and raises the trans pressure, will help the trans last longer.

That's a great idea too! Be prepared for an empty wallet and the onslaught of the dreaded affliction....PMS.

Of the two, I would sugges the BTS. Brian knows his transmissions, and Jody prefers the BTS VB over any of the others out there for use with his chips. Just be sure to let BTS know that you're getting a DP chip, and let Jody know that you're getting a BTS VB.
Nut's got is spot on for gauges, intake and exhaust. Run a search for the Kwik filter on the site to see a cheap and easy way to free up the intake, and look into MBRP for your exhaust.
