roller type cam
can a roller cam be installed without new lifters, or will new lifters need to be installed? What has to be removed from the enging to install new lifters? can new lifters be installed with just the intake removed?
I have a 351M and would eventually like to do a complete rebuild and stroke out to a 400. I am not going to do it all at once and would like to know if the cam install can happen without tearing into the crank or heads.

Question split to it's own thread.
A roller cam can not be used with flat lifters. A roller cam can be installed with roller lifters but it is complicated and the entire valvetrain would have to be replaced with custom parts. Machine work is required so the entire engine would have to be disassembled.
Get a replacement engine core and have TMI rebuild it for you. He is familiar with the conversion process.
