Adding 2 Cycle Engine to fuel for lubricity??

.........Don't know if this has been discussed here or not , but I just added about 4 oz's of 2 cycle engine oil to my fuel to supplement the removal of sulphur by oil refiners . If it allows my injectors to last till 200k or so without replacement it will have been worth IT . Anyway my idea came from a another PSD owner who has read a report from Bosch comparing American diesel fuel with the European clean diesel fuel and he is a firm believer so I thought I'd give it a try . Surely 4 oz's in about 30 gallons of fuel won't hurt the injectors . As soon as he furnishes a link to the article I'll post it here for all to peruse for your Edification and further Enlightenment .
...........On second thought maybe there are better ways of accomplishing this with established products already available on the market
http://www.chevron.com/products/prod.../L2_2_5_fs.htm
..........thanks , skuteman

That's an option that should work fine. Myself, i think i'll give the American made
bio diesel a try.

Or, if bio is not available in your area, use a good quality fuel additive/suppliment. I haven't priced 2 stroke oil in a while, but the read diesel additive you know won't hurt the injectors and will actually benefit more than just lubricity. However, the small amount of oil you did mix in won't hurt anything.

We used good ol ATF for years as an injector cleaner. It works fine....however it does effect some sensors. ALSO it turns the fuel in the tanks to look like dyed diesel ( indicating it was not highway taxed) which results in about a $5,000 fine here in Kansas. I suspect 2 cylcle oil does the same.

I add an 8oz can of 2 stroke Lawn-Boy oil to my truck everytime I filllup. It passes through the system, but how well it works, I have yet to know. The new fuel is dyed red. So what is the new color of off road diesel? I filled up one of my mowers yesterday and noticed it red, as opposed to the usual lime-green that it usually is. hmmm

Thanks,

I'm pushing 200k on my injectors and have only had one fail. No additive ever.

That's just playing with fire, having red fuel in your tank.

I think someone has screwed up.. This is for the farmers, off road use. I would question the station where you got the red fuel. Could cause legal problems for drivers caught with red fuel in their tanks..

Hi All, I have been lurking here for some time now as I am still shopping for an F-250. After reading this post I have to ask a question. Now, I have been serving in Japan for the last 7.5 years so I might be missing something. Has anyone (private individual not fleet/commercial driver) ever had the color of their fuel inspected by any authority? Would they need a warrant to search your fuel tank???

Depends on the jurisdiction. In CA, they are allowed to search for suspected things after the traffic stop has generated an arrest for say seat belts or non functional license plate lights. several threads in the past about fuel inspections and $ 10K fines, although mostly in rural and Canada

The Missouri DOT has been known to inspect trucks on the spot at our regional stockyard when you bring cows in. The vast majority of trucks there are diesels. They make you drain a little fuel from your water drain. I don't know how they get away this on private property.
