Anyone know if injector rebuild kits exist? Ive found the turbo kits for a little over a 100 and to have him do it for just over 250. Some turbo shop here is Phoenix,
But im looking for new injector rebuild kits. Any suggestions?
i personally would not recommend rebuilding the injectors yourself. they are measured in tolerances down to one-millionith of an inch. the temperature difference if you held the plunger in your hand and the barrel assy at room temperature, a good injector plunger would not be able to fit in the bore, it's that tight. the smallest amount of dust in the air can even mess up the injectors. they have to be built in a "clean room", most hospitals are too dirty for rebuilding injectors. not trying to scare you away, im just saying that you should know all angles of the deal.
Im with strokin, its not worth doing it wrong and having to tear into it again to fix the problem, having a shop rebuild it is the closest thing to a new injector too. Plus if they screw up they should replace it just make sure you inspect it before you put it back and put it back the way it came out. If you have good mech skills then save a few bucks and take them out yourself but to rebuild an injector would take a real expert(or real close to it).
I appreciate your opinions, but ive grown up wrenchin and have 2 shops and all of dads 40 years of tools at my disposal. Thanks. What makes you think there is a clean room involved in the making of injectors? Im just curious because the shops in the diesel mags just take your old ones and drill them out. No clean room in those shops. Please enlighten me for I always crave the knowledge of others to better myself.
lol its not just as simple as drilling out the nozzles to make them bigger. it takes either EDM (electric discharge machine) or Extrude honing to make the nozzles bigger. And to make the injectors themselve bigger you have to modify internal parts in the injector which requires some machining. I say go for it, many have used the DIY kits and are having good luck.
lukecline, that site looks like only pre 99 injectors. I need the new 7.3 inj kit. dipaco is for commercial accounts as much i can tell. thanks for any help

He can get you anything you need to rebuild any year of psd injectors.
There are many ways to do fuel injection work in a "clean room" at a shop. The most common method is in a tank of diesel fuel. This keeps the temps constant, dust out, and all the parts lubricated.
Sorry, you may not know my habits and what chemicals are in my home. Thanks for your concern. Please spell my name right if your just going to throw out an idea at me, it shows a little respect rather than casual spat in my direction. This is a respectable forum of which I respect every opinion. Most of us are adults I believe. I was in need of assistance in finding parts not useless banter on how to rebuild nor unsubstantiated rumors. Lukecline was kind enough to point me in the correct location. Thanks all, this should be the end of the thread.
