Hey everyone. I just got a new automatic transmission shifter indicator that goes on the shifter on the column. Is there a way to put this in without taking the steering wheel and turn signal cam assembly off? I'd hate to take all that off just to put in a little shifter indicator. Any help would be appreciated! By the way, it's for a 1973 Ford F250 automatic. Thanks.
When I had the automatic in my 76 what I did to REMOVE the indicator was drop the shifter all the way down into 1st gear and push down a little bit, and there was a slot for the indicator to pull out of. You should be able to install it the same way mine came out. Im not sure if this was the original 76 column, but i'd assume they are near the same for the 67-77.
I'm talking about the orange pointer that allows you to see what gear you're in (p r n d 2 1). I tried putting it in 1st, but no luck. Just wish there was an easier way of putting it in, than taking off the steering wheel.
