transmission question potential ford customer

do the fords have the problems with the tranny like the chevys 4l60e do? going out over 50k and ****?

Not that I am aware of. The Ford autos are very stout units.

I am a die hard ford man my $.02 about the tranny's... The 97-03 gen have a real smoothe sloppy shift, but my 97 4x4 4.6 lasted until 180k miles and it was slipping just a little bit and I had it replaced (my uncle is high up at ford) My dad has an 04 5.4 2wd and it has firm, smoothe, quick shifts, and I love the tranny in his truck it is the heavier duty tranny his truck has the towe package. He has 20k something miles on his truck with no probs.
