Talking V-10 w/ Cherry Bombs ?!?!!!

My trucks is a 99 F-250 SD w/ the 6.8L V-10. Currently I am running a single in dual out Flowmaster Super 50 w/ 6 in tips. I have the stock primary and secondary Cats still. I was wondering how much better this truck will sound If I cut off the Muffler and make a single in dual out coupler to the 2 cherry bombs, I'm thinkin 3 footers. I know these V-10's need back pressure to run well so I think w/ the 2 cats and the 2 glasspacks it should be okay.....

low end torque if that has anything to do with it.

I've yet to hear anybody explain why an engine needs backpressure for low end (or any other reason). Surely someone somewhere has done back-to-back dyno pulls to prove this or something?

Myself, I don't believe it.

Thats because an engine doesnt need backpressure. Backpressure is restriction, nothing more. Exhaust velocity is far more important.

The V10's didn't get dual cats until 2005. You should have one huge cat. There is no need to dual out the exhaust after the cat. It only goes to looks and sound.

Why such long glasspacks? I would go with a couple 12" glasspacks to get a little more sound. The cats already do most of the muffling. I went from the factory exhaust on my F-250 to dual 2.5" pipe with no mufflers, (no cats required ) and stacks that are 5" x 60", and I didn't notice any lag in performance.

I have 3 buddies w/ the F-250 SD's and they told me they got straight pipes on their V-10's...sounded good but they were hard to start and ran like **** after they had the pipes put on, 1 guy went back to stock while the other two went to flowmaster. Even the worker at the Muffler Shop agrees to only put y pipes on these trucks and always have the cat.

so will 2 cherry bombs sound better than my 50 series muffler ?
