hi!! with my 2002 4.6L when i got the hypertec programmer they reccamond to change the stat from 195 to 160 it does not make you truck run rich and makes run cooler and cooler make more power and your ac will be lot cooler so in witer i wold but the stock one back in because it take a lot long to wam up with the 160 stat cooler more power hot less power!! i am looking for one for my 6.2L Raptor because i have cold air intake and a sct programmer that i got from 5 star tunners he does all ford !!
It will run no richer.
The PCM determines that the engine is at normal operating temp at approx 150 degrees.It will take no longer to reach this temp with a 170,180,195,225 degree stat.

It used to be 180* before closed loop. It is on my 88 5.0 LX, but I guess that is the old EEC-IV ancient technology
I used to run a 160* in it for the summer but I also run the timing cranked to 15* N/A or at 10* with a 100hp shot of NOS
Today's engines are designed to run at 195 with no issues.
Heck, my 01 F150 5.4L I had ran fine in 98* weather, with the a/c on, towing 7500lbs. No pinging or anything. I even ran a Diablosport Predator on 93 octane.
