hey guys i have a question for you I just picked up a tilt column for a 79 off of ebay now what i would like to know if anyone has any idea is if i can remove the front part where the wheel mounts and replace it with one froma 90 tilt column with the ignition in the column?
because when i bought the 90 one online it was suppose to be from a 82 and when i got it, it was stamped as coming from 90 and i have had it setting around since was hopign to put it to use. the reason i bought the 79 column was because i got it for $30 shipped and knew it would fit
the main reason is i have been wanted to install a remote starter system i have had laying around for a few months (got it for another car) and i can get a T-harness for a 80+ f-series ignition but not for at 79-down unless someone knows where i can pick up a t-harness for the in dash ignition
it is a 79 but the 351m we had in it finally bied or should I say blew up on the interstate and we got a good deal on a donor 89 lincoln town car as a donor so now we have a EFI 302 with AOD transmision
you can use the tilt ignition from a 79 or older lincoln. the tilt part is the same but the column is longer than a truck column. you can mount the whole tilt part to the truck tilt. i did 3 of them. i use the ignition part to lock my steering wheel and use the ignition on the dash to start the truck. works out good if someone tries to steel the truck they don't know which ignition is good and which isn't.

His question was can he remove the visible part of the 79 tilt column (steering wheel to dash) and replace that with the column parts from the 90's column he thought was an 80's.
i know what his question was and i know why you said no. i was just telling him he could use the tilt from a 79 or older lincoln and it would bolt right up because it was obvious he wanted a column with the ignition in it. and i had done this swap on 3 columns already.
I just got ready to install this dang column and needless to say it came out of a 4wd and i have a 2wd so the coupler is to long is there any chance any one has a 2wd coupler they would be interested in s elling
