Bearings
I have a 97 4x4 f-150, I bought it used and I was thinking about greasing the bearings for the first time since I've had it. This is my first 4x4 vehicle and I was woundering if there are bearings to grease in the front? Or are they like the bearings in the rear and get lubricated by the diff. oil?
If it does have normal bearings that you grease are there any tips/tricks to it? Or are they just like every other vehicle?

Are you talking about wheel/axle bearings? If so, then no. They are pre-greased before installation. And the diff oil is just for the gears in the differential. If it's in the axletubes...then there is something wrong.

4X4's have a hub-bearing assembly in the front. They require no maintenance, but when it's time to replace them, it's about $200+. I think the only grease fitting on the truck is on the idler arm. If you want a good reference as to what you can do to maintain your ride, check through your owner's manual, in the maintenance and care section. Rob

So there are no bearings on the axles/wheel hubs that need to be greased on this truck? I've always had 2wd trucks and had to grease the front bearings. But I thought I was told that the rear bearings on the axles were lubed by the rearend oil.
