97 E150, the speedometer works fine. However, I notice that the odometer does not reflect the miles driven. I have noticed that it quits advancing at times, both the main and trip odometer. I usually see this at the same .75 miles on the trip meter. Maybe a gear tooth is missing?
Does anyone rebuild these instruments, or should I just put up with it?

 

Just the odometer and trip meter can be replaced and even reset depending if you're willing or able to almost completely disassemble the instrument cluster----I've done this myself on the clusters up until 2005. So you don't have to live with this if you'd rather not.

I might have an instrument cluster or two fitting your era would use, yours for the cost of shipping only. These could be used to retrieve the odo and trip meter mechanicals. You could also visit a local scrap yard and look for clusters from F- or E-Series vehicles, all very similar and using common parts.

There is also a seller on eBay who offers cluster repair/rebuild but I can't speak to the quality of his work. His feedback is great if that's any help.
