Ok guys and gals last photo for a while but really woth looking at it's of my 8-track player mounted on floor and one of many tapes I have but this one is special it was recorded live in 1964. I try to keep certain things a 1964 thing. yes it does work. I'm looking for someone who can record the tape to a cd so I don't loose the material on it, because as we all remember 8-track players ate tapes. Oh yeah also needed to make 8-tracks work is a book of matches, remember?
I just checked out your gallery, thats the sweetest slick I have seen yet,I want my 66 longbed in flat black also like the wheels and the notch.Have you thought about "bagging" it?anyway thats a bad ride keep us posted.
hey BIGG66PROJECT Thanks for the compliments. As for the bags, Not yet I probably won't at all. I would like to see my truck laying in the grass but for now will let the grass tickle her belly she's low enough.
Like your truck. I don't believe 8 track tapes or players were available in 1964, if I am right late 1965 or 1966. You do have power steering with that steering wheel don't you? Like the setup
We have a member in the MAC at slicks who takes old medium, Wax, Records, Tape and records it on to CD. He has a full recording studio. Located in Dover Delaware.
Shoot me an e mail and i will look for Paul's contact info.
He did demo Cds for Slick Stock as a giveaway of all songs of the 61 to 66 era, Pretty cool.
Your so right jpdover, 8-tracks were'nt available until 1966, at that time 65,000 were installed as an option in ford vehicles.
But my point is, if you see my truck at a truck/car show and you hear a radio station recorded live from 1964 on 8-track tape you'd probably "flip out" especially if you hear the commercials or advertisements for new cars.
I don't know exactly when radio stations recorded their archives on 8-track tapes but I have one from 1960 with the D.J. Dick Biondi at radio station WKBW, Buffalo and if my memory serves me I have one from 1958 but I'll have to look for it.
But thanks for peaking at my Ride and giving me the oppurtunity to look into the "8-track" history.
Staying low for now

I also want to thank ya for the 8-track history lesson; recently installed one indash in my 65; radio works fine and the track changes good; but I got to clean the heads for better sound clarify.
Can't fine too many rock & roll tapes around my neck of the woods; I do got the best of Jimmie Hendricks in my tape deck.
A little more history on "stereo 8" other wise known as 8-track player.
In 1964 Bill Lear's aircraft company constructed 100 players for distribution to executives at the auto companies.
For anyone looking for 8-tracks, ebay has them just type in "8-track tapes" or "8-track tape players" you'll be surprised at how many tapes are still out there not to mention players.
Staying low for now.

I still have all the 8 track tapes from the 60's-70's I got when they were new. I still use them in my 78 Vette with the orignal am/fm 8 track stereo. My sons fond them when they were in high school in the 90's and recorded them on cassette, their friends at school thought they were new groups and wanted copies.
A way to get them all on cd is to go to www.ares.com and download them all and then transfer them to cd. That would be the easiest way that I can think of.
Wow! What a flash-back. LOL I had forgotten about the matchbook trick. I had a player just like that mounted on the floor. So your the one that stole it. Groovy man
