Low oil pressure

Pulled a load from LA to TX,(14,000lbs @70), with no problems, but noticed the next day the oil pressure stays low and erractic. Had the oil changed(didn't need it), but I am getting worried why oil pressure is low. Not the first load this truck has seen. Hopefully guages, any ideas, main bearings? (186,000 mi.).

Oil pressure

By the way, had oil changed last month and all they had was Delo 400. Don't much like it as I prefer the Rotella. Any preferrences. I did have it changed back to Rotella this time.

Stock Gauge or Aftermarket? The stock gauges are NOT accurate. They send a signal to the PCM as the pressure changes and the PCM decides what signal to send to the gauge. After market gauges will give you a more accurate reading. Possibly a bad sending unit? Possibly an oil pump starting to go or worn mains? First step is to have it checked with a mechanical gauge to give you a true reading.

I prefer the Rotella in any diesel. Especially my own. But the difference in oil pressure should not change with different brands. First thing I would do is have the oil pressure checked with a good gauge. Sound like you use yours for work. And you don't want to put an engine in it. At least if you check with a gauge you will elimate one or the other.
Have you been using Motorcraft filters? They have a built in check valve. Check the pressure first that way you can rule out a pump or bearing problem. Gauges are much cheaper to fix.

Yep, I work it hard, but I also keep 'er in good shape. It does have stock gauges. I plan on putting a mech. gauge as I never trusted that sucker anyway !
