thanks again for all the replies... I will check the egr this weekend or if I get a chance before hand. I will also check the oil... I just had it changed a few weeks ago, and will go do so right now. thanks again.
Please let us know how your EGR looks! Got a digital camera? Could you post a picture or two? I too get pretty bad mileage (consistent 13-14mpg for daily commute) and I have wondered if my EGR had anything to do with this, but I have never checked it. Let us know what you find from that!
just got back from a trip to northern Michigan. average= 18.6mpg i ran 80 for a while but most of the trip was 60-75 i very pleased. Next weekend i'm making the same trip but towing a 24' boat back- i'm very interested on the fuel ecomomy will be, and to see how the truck pulls. it will be the first trailer the i hook on to. and i have 7,000 on the rig.

I agree with Keith drags kills you mpg. I usually get around 17.3 to 17.8 (empty not towing) depending on how the wind is blowing in the Texas Panhandle and IF you have ever been in the Texas Panhandle you know that 20 to 25 mile per hour wind is a calm day, but when I hook up my travel trailer with that 12 foot flat nose on it hitting that wind force at 70 mph it drops to 9.6 in a hurry. You may have said something when you said you had your oil changed. I was having mine changed until I got P.O'd at the guy cause he kept charging me for 15 quarts of oil and I told him "don't put more than 13 and a half quarts in my engine, ALL I am going to pay you for is 14 quarts". My engine did some strange things with too much oil in it.
I believe you have some issues with your 6.0. My '03 gets 18 to 18.50 on the highway empty, at around 65 mph. I just towed 27,000 pounds down from Alaska in May and got 11-12 mpg. I have driven on I-80 in Nebraska with a few thousands pounds with a 50 mph headwind and my fuel mileage only dropped 1.5 mpg, but I also slowed to 65 mph. This 6.0 seems to get better fuel mileage if you don't go over 65mph. When I do 75-80mph I get 17-17.5mpg. I wish I had some answers for you. I have run into some bad fuel before and it dropped 5mpg. Have you tried a fuel additive such as stanadyne? When I use it, it improves my fuel mileage around 1mpg. Keep on the dealership to keep looking and maybe something will eventually turn up.
Keith is spot on ...the slightest wind will cause a huge difference in MPG, especially with the aero dynamic properties of a pontoon boat.
You also said around 65...hum, with my trailer (in gallery) two MPH above 65 changes MPG fast add another 3/5 for wind and now you are at 70/75..and getting lousy MPG...
I have averaged as high as 12.9 Abq to Las Vegas NV, same trip as bad as 8.1 because of heavy foot and wind. As with you my trailer is not very aero, and I weigh in at 23+K
Howdy Y'all,
New Member Here. I Got My 2006 F250 Superduy Extended Cab/lb 4x4 Around Feb 06. Ive Been Watching My Mpg And Noticed Im Only Getting Around 12mpg. When I Picked The Truck Up From The Dealership It Had 32 Miles On It. I Now Have About 4800. Is This Normal?? Ive Been Told That My Milage Will Go Up Around 15k To 18k Mile On The Truck??? Does Anyone Out There Have Any Info On This Or If Its True. Thanks Jorylee
Earlier this month we hit the road in my new 06, Harley Electra Glide in bed and pulling my 30 ft, 10K lbs travel trailer from South Florida to East Tennessee. On the hwy (4 tanks) I got 10.2 MPG, this was doing 70-72MPH. This is the same as my 02 7.3L, pulling same trailer and traveling the same route.
Got new '06 4x4 crewcab F250 6.0 last month.....right now at 4500m and getting around 11gpm. I want to cry ...so when do you guys say the mileage starts picking up?? And my truck feels real "timid". Just feels "tight", like it should have more power/pop than what it does. Is this the breaking in process?? What should I start expecting, and when??? Thanks,
