Leaky Air Injection Manifold
Having problems with the Air Injection Manifold coming loose on my '96 Ford F150 with a 4.9 liter engine. The junction between the pipe and the ferrule becomes looser over time and ends up developing a leak. Even after tightening the ferrules the Air Injection Manifold pipe is still loose and leaking exhaust. The dealer claims this is a reoccurring problem with this engine and the only fix is to replace the entire manifold along with all the ferrules which is big $$. So far I have had to have this assembly replaced twice with the repairs lasting about 30 -40K mi. and now it has started leaking again for the third time to the point I can hear and smell the exhaust leak in the cab. Has anybody else had a similar problem and found way to keep these sealed permanently?
