Is this the same kit that you have? If so you need to make sure that you have a ground to the mounting bracket that has good conductivity. The probe that is included is just like everyone elses. I would recomend putting a plug in that hole and mounting it in the pressure test port by the shift linkage. That is where most everyone here has it mounted. easier to compare temps. Plus, you'd either have cooler readings or hotter readings than everyone else if you are taking the readings in the cooling lines.
hey, i think i know what might be your problem. i was taking the gauge out of the pod and checking the back of the gauge, and i saw there were two black wires and a red wire. i tried switching the two black wires (its a tab that sticks out of the back of the gauge, and the connector slides over it) and once they were switched, i turned the ignition on, and it went all the way to MAXed out. so i reversed them and did some more stuff. check the back of your gauge, the ground tie-in might be mixed up with the lead to the sending unit
i also added a ground to the back of the gauge to the frame behind the door seal, and i added a ground at the sending unit to the frame rail (ground down a spot, drilled hole, bolt and eye connector) and still the gauge doesnt move. i think it's a faulty sending unit.
well I am going to move the sensor to the tranny case itself.
Did you guys run ground wires from the sensor to the chassis?
I am told the ground needs to come from the threads closest to the sensor, or does the tranny itself work as a ground?
