You can buy Cheap headers--and come this summer--your engine compartment is going to be so hot you will NOT enjoy driving yor truck!!!So--Buy good headers that are already cernamic coated and alot of that heat will be transferred out the exhaust just like you had left your exhaust manifolds on your truck----Try Sanderson headers or Stan's headers----they both make a very hi-quality product---fd
I just bought some heddman headers for my '70 f100 302 from summit racing. They came painted black but during shipping they obviously rubbed against each other and some of the paint flaked off. I ended up sanding/laquer thinnered(?) them down to bare steel. Gave them a good polishing with some compound, then cleaned with acetone. Finally I bought some clear flame proof(ceramic) 1500 degree coating (from summit) also available in white, black, and some other colors, which should not only rustproof them but also provide some insulation for the rest of the engine. You should bake them to cure the coating, but the running of the engine will do the same over time. once the coating cures it resist solvents, etc... I bought them to replace some badly rusting headers - passenger side has small hole... Just have to put them on. after I get the old ones off. I'm also going to strip down my air cleaner assembly to bare metal and do the same. give it that almost chrome look.
I put headers on my 67 4x4. The passenger side header was in 2 pieces and fitted together around the motor mount. They were around $140 I bought them in '95. From what I remember, like all parts for these trucks they were hard to find. I bought mine from a speed shop.
