Okay.. a buddy of mine is coming home from baghdad on JUne 1st, so I want to make sure his truck is good to go, right?
Go to start it.... just turns over like there is no tomorrow. Go to the battery, say hell with it and swapped it out. Also swapped out the Negative terminal because it looked corroded. Swapped out the Starter solenoid on the passenger fender, put some water remover in the tank, and swapped the fuel filter. Also, doublechecked the Fuel Pump RELAY and it is good to go.
NOW, half the time it just turns over, and then when it does start, it is really really weak and dies within seconds.
It is a 2001 F250 5.4L Triton V8 with 120,xxx miles.
When it was stored did they stabil the fuel in the tank? Can you here the fuel pump run? Tap on the tank it may be gummed up.
If you put your foot on the go pedal does it keep running ?
If so the IAC may be clogged up!
Did you chk the air cleaner for critters?

If it turns over the starter is obviously ok..Takes 2-3 years for gas to go bad in todays vehicles usually. The fuel pump may be bad as Rich said. Listen for it with key on engine off.

Well... I have gone through every relay and fuse relating to Fuel Pump and PCM etc and they are all intact. I even switched some up just to verify.
When I turn the key to the ACC or ON position, there is no hum coming from near the fuel tank. Obviously from the symptoms it is a fuel issue.
I assume on these trucks that the pump is in tank and not external? If external, where is it? Hard to do?
anyone know a good one for stock replacement (and think it could be done in a driveway (it is lifted at least 3 inches) and only has 1/4 tank of gas in her
