Stabilus also supplies the dampers for the Nissan Titan trucks. It is obviously packaged quite differently than the F150 EZDown aftermarket damper they supply.
I found them on ebay for $50. I don't remember who was selling them. I didn't buy because I thought that was high.
All right, I wasn't going to buy one. But this thread is getting a lot of attention so I bought one on ebay on Tuesday. From this thread it looks like it's worth the 50 bucks. I should have it by Monday or so.
Happy with mine. Got it from eBay for $35 shipped. Lucky bidding in the middle of the night. I forget its there many times and pull it down 1/2 before I realize that it has the EZDown on it. I must really be getting to forget abotu ti that many times.
No. It was the EZdown in the package. The guy bought one from ebay, upon delivery he found it was for a different year model. he took the loss and put it up for auction and I happened to get it.
Installed mine yesterday and works great. Like someone stated earlier, put some thread lock on the bolt that goes into the tailgate. Mine kept loosening after several openings but not anymore.
The Ford F-150 tailgate is designed to be closed with one hand as it has a torsion setup. I have owned pickups/broncos all my life.. so I am used to manually lowering the tailgate
The EZ-down is a nice setup. but personally I wouldn't have the patience to wait for it to open... hahaha

Even though the EZ-Down from their main website store is legitamate in terms of quality and security for payment, Cabelas is probabaly able to sell their items cheaper due to quantity discount. I would take advantage of their buying power and buy it from them.
If ya look at the pictures they are made different, even though both are called EZDown, Look at the ends. Even the Shock part of it is smaller at cabelas.
