On my 1990 Aerostar the transmission, A4LD, leaks fluid badly when going up hill in O.D. Looks like it is coming right out of the front seal, at least from that area. If I go up the same hill in drive it does not leak at all. Speed doesn't matter. I can go as fast as I want up the hill in drive and it won't leak. I thought it may be the front seal but seems it would leak in both OD and drive if this was the case not just OD.
Any Ideas?
Just a bit of clarification, I am from Oregon and when I say hill I might should give some hill size. This happens at 4% grades lasting 3 to 4 miles at least.
Of course it is Front seal! You can be sure, when tranni is removed and TC is removed too. Leackage is easy to see. Prepere to spend a lot of time to replace it.
It is so good, I swapped my A4LD by manual and now I do nothing with tranny but I give many advices!
