My 2000 PS (60k miles) will not go into 4th/OD. Telltale on the shifter does not illuminate or function. Otherwise seems fine: No hard shifts, fluid level fine and looks/smells right.
Appreciate any insights here....hate to go straight to the stealership. Thanks in advance!
That was it. Poor design....3 tiny wires bundled, and restrained so they fatigue as the column tilts. All 3 were broken!! 45 minute repair and all is well.

Thanks again, much appreciated!!!
The Stealership would probably have replaced your trany AFTER they found the wiring problem.
Remove lower column shroud...3 screws. Remove top shroud...have to pop off black key cylinder cover with a screw drive. Wire comes out of the shift lever and on mine (2000) is taped black.
If you have to repair, be careful, very small wires. I used a lighter to heat and then stripped wire covers with my finger nails. I did not put the wire back into a routing clip they have there...figured would give it more room to flex and hopefully not break again. Reinstall shrouds in reverse.
Note: The key chime (key left in, door open) is a bit tough to put back in. I simply taped the end of mine and did not reconnect...hate the thing anyway.
Good luck...easy repair....could do it in 20 minutes if I had to again.
If the wires are not repairable you can get a new lever with wiring for just under 50 bucks from the stealer. I cut the key in chime wire (black with pink tracer, I think) while I was there. Much better now.
