Ya so has anyone ever had to sell on of there projects to finance a differennt one.I went to the machine shop today to check on my engine and it is done and all I have to pay is $2,900.00 thats it.wait a minute did you say $2,900.00!!!! I was floored. He listed off a inpresive supply of parts"forged pistons, moly rings, clevlite bearings, valve springs etc ect..................So after reading the big sign in his shop that basically says "if you can't pay within 60 days its mine" so I went home and stressed out. I had to make a tough decision,I have to sell the Cadillac to keep this project going,I put it on EBAY tonite(item#4642073355) and almost feal sick I love this car,but at the same time this BB is going to rip it up and am excited about the swap that will be coming up. So to everyone who has to make choices and sacrifices I feel your pain thanks for letting me vent guys, goodnite from the Oregon Coast
I feel for ya. I've never been in that situation, but that Caddy is too cool. If I had money and didn't live on the other side of the country, I'd bid on it.
Sounds fairly reasonable for an assembled performance engine actually. It does hurt tho, I had to sell a 1966 Mustang, 289, 4 speed to finance my water, septic, phone and power install, years ago.
$2900? That's not bad. I dropped $4000 for parts only to build a 428FE for my 66 F250 4X4. Machining was about another $2000. It was worth it though.
That truck could do 4 wheel burnouts on dry pavement no problem. I can't wait to get another one.
2900.00 is a great price for an engine with goodies.
I have 2200.00 in just a rebuild with a jobber kit and machine work.
I typically make the deal ahead of time and get no suprises. I once had my guy tell me he put stainless valves in...And i was like and So? not what was agreed upon or in the written quote.. He ate it....., Probally made it up on the next engine but knowing ahead of time what the deal is keeps the suprises at bay.
