I'm in the process of rebuilding the calipers on my 69 F250, but I think I need new pistons for the calipers. They seem to be cracked and brittle. The problem is that I haven't found a place to buy new pistons. The only thing I have found was a kit with new seals and dust boots for the dual piston calipers. Does any one know where I might find some new pistons and how much they might run me?
Ibelieve any auto parts store can get these.I would check the price
of rebuilt ones, The last ones I did the rebuilds were not much more than the kits.
Yes, you can buy the complete caliper for almost the same price of the rebuild. I just bought two calipers for about $35 each to fit a 69 F100.
Good Luck

You can get pistons and kits from NAPA. Yes, you can get calipers cheap but what are you getting? Rebuilt calipers! They aint new, not at something like 14 bucks. One thing NOT to skimp on... BRAKES! Yur choice. Also they sell a special tool fro installing the boots, makes it alot easier. They are easy to do and you can offset the cost of the special tool a lil if one of yur buds needs to do his calipers too.
Yeah, so I stopped by at NAPA today and the guy said that pistons weren't available. They did have rebuilt cores for $56.00, which INCLUDED an exchange of the old ones. There are a couple other parts stores around that I gotta check, but so far I've struck out. It's sensible to just buy some rebuilt ones instead of doin' it myself because then I have to get some tools to get the square seal and dust boot on. I'd rather rebuild them myself, just so that I know that everything is new. Brakes are number one.
