Does anybody have any tips on finding any engine performance problems without going to the dealer and having them do a diagnostics test? If not, will the diagnostics test be able to tell me everything thats messed up motor wise? I'm a new powerstroke owner and am not to sure if its running to its full potential. Also does anybody know where the best place to buy one of the seals for the front axle from? Thanks for the help.
Craver, are you having a specific problem or just think you want to check? If there is no SES light, a code reader usually won't tell you squat. As for the diagnostics, a good one may tell you something and then you may end up fixing/replacing something that isn't broke.
Try finding somebody else with a PSD and see if you can drive it or ride along or let him drive yours. In stock trim, they are heavy ponderous beasts that have some shortcomings that can be fixed by looking through the common mods to wake it up.
I guess thats probably the best thing to do to see if its running at its full potential. I'm used to the cummins diesel so it might just be me not used to how this one is supposed to run. Engine aside, what would cause a real slight vibration when I get to about 60 mph. I know the front axles leaking through the main seal inside the tube. I need to find out how much that part is and where to get it. Could this cause the truck to have a little vibration? I also need a new sway bar that I'm not sure where to get or how much its gonna cost. I'm trying to add up all the things that need fixing to see if its worth me keeping the truck. Thanks for the help.

What? How dare you? Seriously, I fully understand. No telling what kind of maintenance record the truck had before you got it. Don't get me wrong, the truck is not supposed to be a dog in stock trim, but with poor maintenance it can run like one.
Have you pulled the intake tube off of the turbo and made sure your wheel isn't dusted? Also, make sure all of the turbo intercooler boots are secure and not leaking. After that, do an oil/filter and fuel/air filter change if you haven't already and see what ya got.
As for the axle seal, I have no experience with that so will not comment as many here do. (have experience I mean)
Good luck
