I think you might use the block heater more then you think. I have mine on a timer in the garage anytime its going to below 32 degrees I plug it in. that nice warm air without waiting and even though the manual says you don't need it unless its below -20 I can not see how having warm oil and block is not saving you wear and tear on the engine regardless if the temp. is is just below freezing or 30 below.
Your so right Birddog,we have them on all of our f350's at work.Although they are 7.3's & 6.0's.Plugging them in can't hurt especially if you plug into the neighbors recepticle
Yeah Crazy, I am still in the hunt. My father has a place in PA so I'll have to register it there since I can't register a non-CA emissions vehicle in New York.
I'm not concerned about the V-10 fuel inefficiency since I run two V-8's now that don't do well themselves. So there is no loss for me really and I don't see how much better I'd be with the 5.4L so there really is no other way to go.
Eric,I got it $300 over invoice, plus a bedliner. The tax&tags pushed it up.I got $12000 for my 2003 f150.I have driven the f250 supercab with the 5.4,i'm not too impressed. My buddy at work has a 2004 f150 4.6 v8,he said he gets 16 mpg.If ya ask me ,thats not too great.I have the4.2 in my 2003 f150 & I never figured out the mpg,but I can say it's not that great either.I would rather have the BSEG!
Pretty sweet ordering a 07' sounds like a great ride,,just a thought,,are you sure you want ESOF,,??? I myself,, had to find manual hubs and transfere case on all my trucks or I just kept looking !
You gotta admit,,you see issues with ESOF,,not many with manual hubs and transfer case shifter,,plus I have used 2-wheel low range very often, just leave hubs unlocked,,when I was looking at 06's I did find a F-350, V-10, Lariat with manual hubs and shifter,,so they are out there ! Just thought I would ask.
eric
pa plate need pa insurance .
crazy
i'm in susssex county nj, by high point almost as high up in the air so it gets cold here also seen -20 many times blowing across the mountain tops still the gaser always started right up. well the truck not the old gasser him self that one needed a half bottle of j.b. or j.d. to fire up.
that's cool captchas,I just wanted it for $35,crazy like that.M350,I had automatic shift on the fly with my 94 f150 xlt,and never had a problem.I hope I don't with this one either.I know guys that had problems with the older ones, they would just put the warn lockouts on & just push the button on the dash then.Hey Blue, the other dealer that I was dealing with called me today to try to wheel me in on the deal, but I told him it's too late. They said they already ordered the 2007 lariat I built,& they're just going to put it on the lot.If your interested let me know,Al.
crazy
just work those hubs at least one time weekly so they keep moveing . and from what i hear some of the guys saying about them thats all they need . i have them no problem so far at 20k. they worked today on the wet rain slicked oily jersey roads right in drove for about 15 miles with them engaged set them loose . sure beat spining my rears to death from every light. darn oily jersey roads . should be some way to turn off 5 holes so you can take off with out burning rubber "as if its not fun any way"
yes i have and it dose. i also have a few early ones apart as they had a planitary gear set pin problem they would work loose. year 05 they changed the gear sets with modified and bigger ones .that seems to be when ford found out about needing a stronger retainer snap ring. and the trans recall came about
this trans is big inside . the valve body is no more then a manual solector valve and all shifting is by solinode. programing a firmer shift is a piece of cake with something like sct or like .
thanks charlie,i'll keep that in my safe place.I tried once with my 1994 f150,hitting the 4 wheel drive selector doing 50 mph & I didn't like the sound it made.So from then on i would pull over & select it.
i have not had any problem at speed but did have the same feeling with my 95 150. kind of like clunk otay i'm engaged .when those failed out the door in went warns .winter i would just engage the hub and turn the swich when needed.
If they had the ratchet type "auto" hubs, being at speed was a clunky experience
With my '74 highboy, with hubs unlocked, pulling the transfer case lever to 4H always ground, at speed.
The grinding is because the hubs are not engaged (or they are the ratchet type) and the front driveshaft isn't spinning anywhere near fast enough to engage without the transfer case complaining.
