Gonna swap out the coil springs on my 67 this weekend. I am taking them off a 72 donor that has a 360 in it so the springs are taller. I have a 240. There is a 3" difference in the height difference, trying to level my truck off. How hard is this job???
If you need to cut your coils, a 4 1/2 inch grinder with a thin wheel works pretty good. I've heard you shouldn't use a torch. Just take off a little bit at a time, because you can't put it back. Be careful, and use a good coil spring compressor to remove the coil.
Ken, Take the two bolts out of the keeper at the top, and then the nut at the bottom. Jack the cross member and when it is extended enough lift it our and replace it.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
John...I should have listened to the Chilton's...they were right. Ya gotta unbolt the shocks too...if not, it prevents the I-beam from falling far enough.
