I am looking to buy my first Diesel 6.0 when I was reading some of the posts about MPG. There are many people that are using Diesel kleen. So not only do you have to pay around $3.00 at the pump. How much is a can of this diesel kleen?
Is the diesel fuel that is sold not really that good and is this the reason for this stuff?
I am not really impressed with the mileage from most of the 6.0 people. It seams the older 7.3 got better mileage than the newer 6.0.
What is the up coming 6.4 going to get for mileage?
Here's why I use Diesel Kleen - others probably have similiar reasons
1. Raises The Cetane Rating - Mileage & HP benefits
2. Anti Gel - Really just a cold weather thing - Not a big deal if you live in a warm climate
3. Has a Lubricating benefits for the injectors - IMHO this will be a REAL BIG DEAL once the ultra low Sulfur Diesel becomes common all over the US
4. Anti Algae Agents - again not a big deal if you refill often from good sources
5. Cheap Insurance against #'s 2 & 4 if you have to fill up at questionable sources.
Bottom Line IMHO - You don't have to use it but, most view it as pretty cheap insurance against problems - remember injectors are Expensive & not super easy to replace!
I get mine diesel Kleen at walmart, $5.50 a quart..for 3 tank fulls, there is actually 3 different ones, white for winter, grey for summer, and red is some kind of severe cold weather,,I think thats how is goes,
