There was a thread a while back about something concerning the security light. I believe it had to do with the light being a dummy light, designed just to worry a theif enough to deter him from trying to break in.
I know some other alarms do nothing for locking the ignition, just doors and setting the alarm.
The flashing dash light on a PATS equipped vehicle is NOT a dummy light installed for ornamental purposes or the like, it indictes that the PATS system is functioning. Operating the remote will not affect the dash light that indicates PATS is enabled; PATS is an ignition disabling system and not a *traditional* alarm system. I could explain a bit about how the system works, but out of curiosity, what are you trying to do with the PATS system and why might the module location be of interest? Are you having problems with a PATS system and if so, specifically what are the problems?
More info on the vehicle situation (ie, symptoms) is needed. What happens when you try to start it? Does it crank? Spark? Fuel? Reddog correctly noted that your PATS, from what you have described, *appears* to be working correctly. How did you diagnose a PATS failure?
only data is box that remotes came in say AutoMate am2.
I'm not sure he is talking about a patts system. I think It only came on vehicles with Locks and windows. The reference to "AutomMate am2" sounds like an aftermarket system of some sort. We need some more info...
