Yes. I do get a little better mileage running the dk. I know i over treated it a few times, but it has been a long time since I have added any. That, and at the time I had gotten some really bad diesel. I use dk about every 5th fillup and that is where my truck seems to like it.
Speaking of bad fuel, I just put 70 (free) gals. of 5 or 6 year old fuel in my Cat, I have only driven it 40 miles so far. It seems alright, but the idle is wanting to go up and down for some reason. I am going to dump a bunch of DK in it before I drive it again.
Do believe that is something I would not fool with. But it makes sense that disconnecting both batteries would reset the puter. I know it does so on my Super Coupe.
Resetting the computer causes it to re-learn your driving habits and make shift adjustments. After towing for an extensive period it apparently makes a difference. disconnect your batteries for 15min and turn on lights while disconnected. This discharges any stored capacitors.
You can spit on your tire this time of year and get better mileage. Something to do with the fuel and the warmer temps. Happens every year.
Wow Fat, I see you are very nearly from my home town, Sunnyvale. Yes the winter tempertures shocked me with fuel milage in my very first PSD, a 95 Duelly CC.
Hey Markadeck, really appreciate the thread. Just changed to Rotella synthetic and my mileage went down. Did the external fuel regulator not too long before so was a little puzzled about the mileage issue. Will change back to 15w40 on next change and see what happens.
And BTW, any time you can come on down to Texas and we'll take a drive. You may be surprised about how big some of our 'mole hills' are and how often you have to drive up and down them. But if mole hills are less than 8k feet high and don't have 7% grades, you're right . No offense taken, just defending my home state, but you really might be surprised at west Texas terrain and mountains and what a toll they take on mileage!
I live in austin... the heart of the Texas Hill Country. HILL COUNTRY. I grew up around the cascades, so i can assuredly state that there are no significant MOUNTAINS in TX.
that is all.
southerners and their hills... jeesh.
(I'm from houston, so i can say that.)
i can assuredly state that there are no significant MOUNTAINS in TX.
Have you ever been to west texas??
Guadalupe Peak 8,749 ft
Bush Mountain 8,631 ft
Shumard Peak 8,615 ft
Bartlett Peak 8,508 ft
Mount Livermore 8,378 ft
Hunter Peak 8,368 ft
El Capitan 8,085 ft
Granted, no everest, but 8749 feet is a long way up there.
